Arteastiq With Elizabeth Arden

Tuesday, July 15, 2014 / , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

The Elizabeth Arden team invited me to a day out with the other beauty bloggers at Arteastiq's art jam room. We were each given a white rose (Thank you EA team!), a canvas and lots of paint to paint our intepretation of the rose. This was in conjunction with the launch of Elizabeth Arden's Visible Whitening Intense Brightening Biocellulose Mask and Visible Whitening Anti - Melanin Spot Corrector.

Phew! That was a mouthful. I'll do a review in the next post. :)

Review: The Glamourous Factory

Tuesday, April 8, 2014 / , ,

MynameisQUE;

2 beauty related postings consecutively. I'm on a roll! :P
I've tried a couple of the services at The Glamourous Factory. Located both Plaza Singapura and The Clift (near Telok Ayer street), I love how this parlour has so many services, from head to toe. They even have good deals from 2 - 5pm at the outlet for the CBD babes.

Underarm waxing -$8
Gellish Express Manicure - $18
Eyebrow Shapping - $8
Express Manicure - $8

The customer service here is amazing! The beauticians here are really very friendly. Very personalised service, I must say and you can see that they love their job! I mean, it's easy to see when someone is passionate or just serving you for the sake of her job. Their outlet at The Clift is just a stone throw's away from my new workplace. So yes, you'll probably see me chilling at the outlet after a long day at work.

Of the 2 outlets, I would suggest Plaza Singapura if you're heading out after your pampering session because it's quite a convenient location to shop and eat. Be warned that it may be quite noisy and crowded because it's just beside 1 Market, by Chef Wan. Expect lots of families with kids hanging out around the same area.

However, if you want a more "exclusive" session, somewhere away from the busy crowd then I'd recommend the other outlet at The Clift. My personal fav!

Review: Nail Rock 3D

Sunday, April 6, 2014 / , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Just tried the Nail Rock 3D Designer nail wraps. The brand has tonnes of different design so you're definitely bound to find something you like. This design just screams fabulous!

I love how it's really quite easy to use but as you can see, I'm not really good at trimming the edges. I'd totally opt for this nail wraps if I really don't have time to visit the manicurist and yet have an important event to  attend. Convenient? Definitely.

Just stick, fold and file your nails. You don't have to apply any nail polish, no need to wait for the stickers to dry up. Each Nail Rock pack contains 16 nails wraps in different sizes for finger and toe nails.

However, if you're looking for something long lasting, I'd recommend you to go for gel nails instead.

These nail wraps retails at Watsons at $14.90 each.

Been changing and buying new make up recently. Am now using Maybelline's Lashionista Mascara. Take a look at those long lashes. Love how the mascara gives me length. My lashes are quite long so with my new mascara, it's even longer. Beyond mascaras, I've switched to using Mac make up. This includes primer, foundation, powder and lipstick. It's AMAZING how make up primer really makes a huge difference and my make up last even longer throughout the day. Love, love, love!!

Below are some pictures I took recently. :)

Presenting Cetaphil’s newest Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15!

Monday, April 9, 2012 / , , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;
<Sponsored>

Recently, I was sent Cetaphil's latest moisturizer to review. I'm sure many of you have heard of Cetaphil. Been using this moisturizer before applying make up on my face for almost a week now.

I like how the moisturizer is lightweight, fragrance free and does not leave an icky feeling after applying on your face. Also, my skin feels soft and moisturized after application. Also, this moisturizer contains SPF 15 and would be able to double up as a sunblock and protects your skin from the harmful UV rays. It's great for lazy the time-starved who do not have the luxury take their own sweet time to put on make up (a.k.a ME!).

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 will be suitable for those with sensitive skin too!

Retailing in Guardian, Watsons, Unity and selected hospital retail pharmacy outlets at $24.90.

The first Japanese Gaban-yoko spa in Singapore!

Saturday, April 7, 2012 / , , , , ,

MEH! You must be thinking.... This looks like a regular piece of bread but did you know that it has been left  out in the open since 31st March 2011. Try zooming in. There's no mold, no weird smell and it doesn't even look gross. How is that even possible?

Okay fine... It was actually left out in the the Anti Oxidant Centre which I went to 2 weeks ago! If you follow me on Twitter, you would know that my gfs and I had a little pampering spa session. :>

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the owner of this spa to do a review of their Gaban-yoko spa treatment. I've never heard such a thing in my life so I was curious and at the same time super excited because I get to invite my best girlfriends for the session. Here they are below. :)

Just to show you the stuff they have at the spa. The spa is really clean and so if you're hygiene conscious do not have to worry!You will have designated cupboards for you to put your valuables. Also, you'll be given a key for you to lock the cupboard.

It is advisable for you to remove your make up before you Gaban-yoko spa session because you will perspire alot. So here's a picture of me before I removed my my make up. You'll probably want to bring your own make up/make up remover/facial cleanser too.

Here's us all feeling super nervous because we were told that the spa rooms would be rather warm.

Ok, so you must be wondering what's Gaban-yoko? It is like a hot stone spa and this session will help to eradicate free radicals trapped in your bod with negative ions. It's a healthy therapy and is quite popular in Japan. Now, think about the piece of bread I showed you just now. If that piece of bread can still look edible despite being left out in the spa for a year, imagine what it can do to you! :P

All you have to do is relax and take a short nap for about 45 minutes in the therapy room but us being us, we talked, giggled and bonded during the session. Not to mention camwhore. (See images below LOL)
The therapy room was warm, kinda like a sauna. As you can see, there are 4 beds in each room. I'm not sure whether they have private rooms for couples, you could call/email them to ask.

Here's Farah and Kasturi trying to fan themselves during the session with the towel. Cute!

In a nutshell, I loved the session! I really perspired alot and I feel extremely refreshed. It's great for detox, to improve your circulatory system and also the skin. Not forgetting, the sessions would also increase one's metabolic rate. I would love to return but sadly it's kind of out of way for me because I stay in the east and now that I've started working, my schedule is quite packed. However, if you're staying around Mountbatten, Bishan, you know the usual red line, I strongly recommend you to try the spa there. <3

A visit to the Surrealist Love Scene showroom!

Friday, April 6, 2012 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Fashion aficionados would have probably heard of Surrealist Love Scene for being the Singapore fashion and lifestyle company distributing and marketing retail fashion and lifestyle labels like Irregular Choice and Poetic License from UK, Mymu from US, 72Smalldive from Milan and Nicholas, Saturday and Shito from Singapore. A few weeks ago, I went to explore their showroom to check out what they have in store for you. ;)

Surrealist Love Scene is also the distributor of these exclusive bath and body products from Les Floralies, New Zealand. Other than the showroom, you'll probably be able to find these products at John Little and Sephora. More details here.

I'm really keen to try out Earth Botanic's body scrubs so I'll probably be making my way down to Sephora soon to get these lovely babies!

These sniffboxes have aromatherapy benefits. Why the need for essential oils when you can just buy these? These small containers contain "aroma beads" at the base. All you have to do is open it and place it directly under your nose and breathe in! The different Sniff Boxes have different benefits ;)

Oooh look.... A surprise!

They knew that I'm very into sweet smelling scents so here's a little something the SLS team gave me. Am so in love with this Manuka Honey scent!

Dyna Argan Oil Hair treatment by Mucota!

Saturday, March 31, 2012 / , , , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

A few weeks ago, I was invited to an event by Prime Group Asia, the exclusive distributor of Mucota products. They were launching their new Dyna hair treatment. It's main ingredient for this hair treatment is Argan Oil and it can be used on different hair types such as dry, dull and damaged hair. The event attendees were mostly hair stylists. I even saw my hairstylist from Bonafides

Before that, let me tell you more about Argan oil. I did my research and it is said to be one of the world's most expensive oils which is good for anti-aging and protection (from heat and harmful rays of the sun). Also, for those with dyed hair this oil is keep your colour more long lasting and it'll prevent your hair from being dry.

2 masters from Japans were invited to give a demo on how to use DYNA The models were also bloggers, Kiyomi and Jasmine. You've probably heard about them. Both of them have damaged hair basically due to dying of hair so that day, so DYNA HAIR TREATMENT TO THE RESCUE! :)

Jasmine on the other hand used the Dyna perm to curl her hair. All this, without an iron curler and heat. It was really interesting for me. I received a sample pack of the products and god, did I tell you that the hair treatment cream smells like peach? Really sweet smelling! I love it. :>

If you're looking at hair treatment, you'll probably wanna check out salons using the DYNA hair treatment.
Thank you Wendy for the invite!

Don't forget to Like Mucota on Facebook. It's time to pamper your tresses. ;)

Dear ladies, what kind of fragrances do you go for?

Wednesday, March 28, 2012 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

The other day, I was talking to the nice peeps from Surrealist Love Scene and we were talking about the our preferences when it comes to scents. I immediately said that I like sweet smelling frangrances. I used to be in love with Paris Hilton's Heiress until most shops stopped selling them. I also really like Marc Jacob's Daisy, but I only use that for special atas occasions. I'm not really someone who would rather splurge on clothes than fragrances because I believe that a perfume doesn't need to be branded/expensive to smell good.

Check out my latest buy.

PINK With A Splash Victoria Secret Body Mist
Bought this from Changi Airport at $13 PER BOTTLE. Pretty good deal, I must say!

What kind of fragrances do you enjoy? Anyway, anybody knows where I can get Victoria Secret perfumes at a good price? Share with me in the comment box below!

Do you really want "SNOW" on your head?

Sunday, January 22, 2012 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

<Sponsored>

So... In December, we had the Christmas season... You get to see pretty lights everywhere...

And also, lots of SNOW.

Kidding.

That's not snow.... It's DANDRUFF.

Can you see that white stuff on my brother's head? It's not that obvious in the photo but I promise you, it's extremely obvious in real life especially when you wear a black top!

Want a more obvious picture?

Back in primary and secondary school, I used to have very bad dandruff. SO BAD that my scalp bled rather frequently. It's a gross sight, I swear. I felt really shitty everytime someone tells me,
"Eh, there's some white thing in your hair!".

Especially because I'm one of the shortest in class, that also meant that my dandruff was the most obvious and visible to EVERYBODY. Thing is for me, it's my habit to shampoo my hair every morning. So after I bathe, I'll have to go to school and I normally do not have the time to towel dry my hair before tying it up. Especially since in primary school and secondary school, we girls are not allowed to let down our hair, so I had no choice but to tie my hair eventhough it was wet. Now, because I'm in poly, I normally let my hair down and I'll normally just bun it up when it's dry. :)

For me, I do not bathe with warm water. Cold water lessens scalp irritation as compared to cold water. Also, you should NEVER sleep with your hair wet. When you're conditioning your hair, make sure the conditioner doesn't drop onto your scalp. Shampoo is mainly meant for your scalp. That is why, even if you're bald, you SHOULD shampoo your head. Botaks, please take note. Conditioner is more for hair care. Also, dandruff develops when you don't wash your shampoo off your head properly. If you've been feeling stressed and have not been sleeping well you might also develop sudden dandruff. If you don't do all these and yet STILL have dandruff, then maybe.... You haven't been bathing enough. Please bathe and shampoo your hair!!  :)

And if you have dandruff please don't use ANY KIND of shampoo. There are SPECIAL shampoos for dandruff like...

Clear anti dandruff shampoo!

(Left, for men and right, for women. :)

What Clear does?

•Builds the scalp’s natural defence to fight against dandruff-‐causing factors
•Penetrates three layers deep into the scalp to repair the scalp’s natural barrier
•Eliminates and clears dandruff from the scalp surface

I tried these 2 versions and I personally love the Ice Cool Menthol version. After massaging your scalp with this shampoo, it really feels shiok! :)

Women’s shampoos:
$9.40 for 350ml,
$14.30 for 700ml

I also tried the men's version on my brother. He has ALOT of dandruff, it's gross.

Men’s shampoos:
$10.30 for 350ml,
$15.70 for 700ml

And he too prefers the menthol version because of the shiok feeling after that. It's minty and it really feels therapeutic! You'll feel really fresh after that. No kidding.

For me there was improvement and I had less dandruff in the span of a week, however for my brother, his dandruff didn't really improve much. I guess this product works differently for diferent people. Nevertheless,
I would still recommend this product to you if you're having any dandruff! :)

Clear can be found at most major supermakets.

Xoxo,
RynaQUE
