Singapore Blog Awards 2013 + My Journey Thus Far

Monday, July 8, 2013 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

It's my third year attending the Singapore Blog Awards!

If you don't already know, the Singapore  is the brainchild of omy.sg, Singapore Press Holdings' leading bilingual news and entertainment portal, and was created to honour independent content producers who devote their time and energy to create and maintain informative and innovative blogs.

Met Chloe from Wasted Fashion for the first time and caught up with Susannah from A Fashionable Leo.

I'll have to be honest, sometimes I feel jaded.

I hate how certain PR folks only talk to me when they need something, I hate it when marketers work with writers of crappy blogs, how the society still do not understand the impact of bloggers + their blogs and how people like Xiaxue earn a living by blogging.

Then, I think about how many people I've met through blogging, how it has opened more doors for me professionally and personally as a blogger and how it has totally changed my life. I know I did the right thing.

This "blogging thing" will only get better.

Find out who won the Singapore Blog Awards here.

Plus Sized Label FLOW, Suitable For Every CURVILISTA!

Friday, June 28, 2013 / , , , , , , , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Finally checked out the FLOW counter at Isetan Scotts and I am extremely impressed by the collections. Love the designs made of bold prints and patterns. Read on to find out more about my experience with FLOW!

Just take the escalator up to level 2 of Isetan Scotts and you’ll definitely see the FLOW counter!

The best part about it is that not only does FLOW sell apparels, but they also have their very own line of accessories!

Moving to the apparels I tried when I was at Isetan Scotts!
Jaw Drop…. I love this Embellished Chiffon Batwing Top in Turqoise. I keep thinking about how comfortable it is and how the colour is so striking. Should I go back to the FLOW counter at Isetan Scotts to get this?

Check out the embellished collars with beads of different colours.
How can anyone not fall in love with this????

Fell in love with this Abstract Print Jersey Faux Wrapped Dress because of the vibrant colours. I think I know when I should wear this! When I need a “PERK ME UP OUTFIT” to cheer myself up after a bad week, maybe?!

Ah….. I love this Leopard Print Jersey Skirt.

Check out how a top can make a difference in how your overall outfit will look like. Left – probably suitable for me to wear when meeting new clients or attending business meetings and right – probably a chill night out with my girls! I think pencil skirts look great on curvy girls, so ignore the naysayers, girlfriends.

Selfshots because I love how the Embellished Chiffon Batwing Top in Turqoise looks great on me!

Many of my readers and friends have asked me about the price range of FLOW. The prices ranges from about $80 onwards, which I think is perfectly affordable considering other physical plus size shops are selling their apparels within this price range.

Also, I still get emails from readers saying that they are afraid to try wearing bright colours and would prefer to stick to muted colours. I hope that this post will show you that, fashion rules are meant to be broken! If I can do it, so can you!!

A picture with the FLOW team J Thank you for being so accommodating.
Definitely one of the best brands I’ve worked with thus far.

Oh, and as mentioned in my previous post here, here’s a super privilege for all of you!
Print the image below and enjoy SGD20 off on regular-priced items.  Please download it, print it out and present to the sales assistant at FLOW counter upon your purchase. Valid only from 14-27 June2013.

Giveaway: Stand With Me and Win An iPad Mini!

Friday, February 15, 2013 / , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

<Advertorial>

Do you still remember the SARS outbreak that happened 10 years ago? Various national prevention and control measures were undertaken to control and eliminate the transmission of the infection. Remember how we had to constantly take our temperatures in school? It was compulsory for every student to have a thermometer in their bag. I also remember the catchy Phua Chu Kang SARS Rap that was constantly playing on the TV to educate and remind us how to cope with the epidemic. We may be a small country, but as long as each and every one of us stand together as one, we will be able to go through anything.

This year, the theme for the Total Defence campaign is:

Will You Stand With Me?

Time and time again, we have proven that we can overcome challenges when we stand together as one. What better way to show this to the world than coming together online?

Let’s join the other fellow Singaporeans and be part of The Longest Online Human Chain on the
http://standwithme.sg website! All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself with your arms outstretched. The first 100 participants will each win a $10 shopping voucher. It’s that simple!

Step 1: Click “Submit Photo”

Step 2: Upload Photo of You and Your Friends With Your Hands Stretched Out!

That’s not the only way you can win some goodies!
The good news is, yours truly will be giving away……

Social Media Habits of Singaporean youth....

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 / ,

MynameisQUE;
Are you trying to market your brand/products to youths aged between 15-35?
You might find this video useful.

This year, 2nd year students of Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Media and Communication planned, organised and executed the Media and Communication Conference 2012. This year's theme is Click to Connect. I attended Day 1 of the conference and had a great time.

Also, this year the students conducted a survey to find out the impact of citizen journalism on Singaporean youth. Here are some stuff I found interesting. To find out more, click here.

All photos below belong to the Singapore Polytechnic, Centre for Social Media;

So brands, time to engage your fans/followers more online! Year 2s, good job.

My first Diwali visiting!

Thursday, November 3, 2011 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Last week, Kasturi invited us to her house for Diwali. For me it's my first time ever doing Diwali visiting so we weren't sure of what to wear. Since we didn't have any indian traditional costume, I suggested to Farah that we should wear our traditional costumes out of respect. Hahaha so... yes we went in our baju kurung. IT WAS REALLY WARM.

Plus, how often do I get to wear my traditional costume? You know how proud I am of being a malay right? :P

Actually turns out Kasturi didn't really mind if we wore normal clothes. I still think it won't be nice cus she dressed up when she tagged along for our Hari Raya visiting.

You know, my friendship with Kasturi is really a very eye opening one. Since secondary school, I've always mixed around more with my Chinese friends, but I've never been close to anyone who's Indian. Mainly because there's also not many indians in my class? So when I got to know Kasturi, it's really interesting because I realised that the Malay and Indian culture has it's similarities.

Maybe you know about this, but I recently found out that Indians also have their "kueh" for Diwali too and it's VERY SIMILAR to the ones we have for Hari Raya.

Take this Muruku for example. I know this is an indian snack, but we malays love this too! Yes, even I have this for Hari Raya. :)

PINEAPPLE TARTS. Actually, I realised that even the Chinese have these for their CNY festivals. These are home made btw. :)

Some kuih made of coconut. :)

Kasturi's newly painted wall. :)

FOOD!!

Homemade Briyani yo!! :P

Picture before the meal. :P

I think the problem with Singapore is that eventhough we are a multi racial country, we don't often really get to know people of other races. Being acquaintance/"friends" and being good friends with someone of a different race is very different. Being good friends with someone of a different race will allow you to learn so much about the person's culture and religion. It's extremely interesting. :)

I had a great time. Thank you Kasturi for inviting us over!
