Goal of the month: To watch a movie!

Sunday, September 9, 2012 / , ,

MynameisQUE;

I've been really busy ever since I started working. So busy that I'm starting to realise that I have neglected many people, including myself. So, my boss who's really very supportive of the team wants us to have personal goals for ourselves for each month. :)

Goal Of The Month: To watch a movie

Feels really good that I've achieved my goal of the month!

Love, love, love Step Up Revolution. It was an inspiring movie, really. It was about a group of underground dancers, (they call themselves The Mob) trying to fight for what they believe in. It's this little things that really make me think about my purpose in life. In the movie, some rich girl's dad wasn't supportive of her interest in pursuing dancing in school and a career in the future. She then met some guy who was supportive of her dreams and he inspired her to fight for what she wants.

I think I have been fairly lucky. Ever since I got my O'Level results, they have always given me the freedom to choose which path I would like to take. They would never force their believes on me. Since my grandma, mum and late grandpa were teachers, ever since I was young, everyone expected that I would perhaps take that route. Believe me, even I thought that route was the one for me. Then I realise what exactly what I wanted to do and here I am. Don't let anyone come in between you and your dreams.

Never stop fighting for what you believe in.

Next Goal Of The Month: To go on a date!
Any takers?

So girls, is it true that we go for the bad guy and that good guys finish last?

Sunday, February 19, 2012 / , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Anyway, if you're planning to watch This Means War the movie, don't bother. The show isn't worth watching. And.... This post will be full of spoilers. You might wanna close the browser if you're gonna watch it soon.

So 2 good friends fight over the attention of a women. Usual story line. Best Man Wins.

Specimen A is a divorcee, with a son. Hasn't dated for some time.
Responsible. Romantic. Very eligible.

Specimen B is..... the bad boy we often meet in real life. Isn't ready to settle down. Thinks that he's got enough skills to get the attention of the girl, since he has done it many times anyway. Has probably dated and slept with 16272912928 girls.

So... guess who she picked in the end?
The bad boy, of course. Good job Captain Obvious.

This movie deserves endless trashing because the ending is predictable. Sure, the trailer looks good. The only sexy factor about the movie is probably because the 2 men are spies. Other than that, it's just another fail rom com. Well, at least to me.

So, is it really true that we girls only go for the bad boys and that nice guys finish last? Think about it. Remember how your guy didn't really treat you well, but you actually stayed by his side. What about that nice guy you're always confiding in? You probably friendzoned him because you think you and him can only be friends.

So why did Reese Witherspoon choose to be with Chris Pine in the end? (well just her character in the show) Because you know, she probably felt that she could change this man. She wanted to be "the reason he changed", from a heartbreaker to a loving boyfriend. And, probably the fact that she slept with Chris Pine first instead of Tom Hardy could also have contributed to her decision to be with him. You know how girls are wired....

It's a disappointing movie. Even movies don't turn out the way we want it to be.
Need I say more?

QReviews: Footloose

Thursday, October 27, 2011 / , , , , ,

On Monday, I was invited to the preview screening of Footloose. At first, when I first watched the movie, I didn't know that it was the remake of the old movie.

If you're feeling stressed and you're looking for a movie to cheer you up, this could be it!

Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough were the main casts of this film. The moves in the show were slick. Definitely very infectious, made me want to dance in my sit too! Haha

Wormald who plays Ren was definitely very pleasing to the eyes. In fact, he's extremely sexy. Especially on the dance floor.

Hough plays Ariel and honestly strikes of as abit too slutty for my liking.

I like how the show was about a teenager who was not afraid to challenge the laws of the town and he stood up firmly for what he believed in. It was really obvious that the casts enjoyed themselves while doing the movie, so it definitely was fun to watch too!

Rating: 4.5/5 :)

Here's a trailer of the latest remake of Footloose (2011).

Anyway, if you're interested, here's the trailer of the the 1984 version of Footloose.

Movie Mania: GV Gold Class & What's your number?

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

If you're an avid reader of my blog, you'd know that I managed to buy a pair of Golden Village Gold Class tickets at only 22 cents. Freaking 22 cents for A PAIR!! I know, I know. I still haven't gotten over it actually. Haven't read the blogpost? Okay here you go ---> GOOD STUFF!

Wait, have you "LIKED" me on Facebook? Please click LIKE if you haven't done so! I'd like to connect with my readers.

So... I went out on Sunday to Vivocity for a Carlo Rino event which I'll blog about soon. After that, Farah and me decided to go for a movie because it was the last day of our holidays!

YES GOLD CLASS. WHOOOOO!

The seats are extremely comfortable! Love it!! The service was top notch too, I felt like I was treated like a VIP. Really. :P

We decided to watch What's your number? because Farah and me love chick flicks! What's new? Me being me. Hehehe so....

It's about this girl who is sexually active. The thing is, the men she sleeps with aren't kind who are "serious" about her. What's new? Like every other girl, she'd like to finally settle down and have a happy-ever-after.  She then read a magazine article which said that a large percentage of women who have had 20 or more lovers, can't find a find a life partner. She then looked through the list of men she has slept with to see if one of them could be her... true love. Helping out in this "mission" is her neighbour who sleeps around with many girls and doesn't call them back at all after that.

Okay I'm going to tell you how it ends so if you don't want to know...
Don't read this part!! :P

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well in the end, she finally found her ex lover that is extremely perfect. Rich, smart, yes the ideal man, but she realises that the person she loves now is her neighbour. The one helping her out in her mission? Yes, that's him! Struggling musician, has a 1001 flings etc. Wow, sounds like someone I know. Haha. So in the end, she ditched the "perfect guy" and finally ended up with her neighbour.

To be honest, the show is extremely predictable. But it's one of those shows that'll remind you things that are important when you are looking for a life partner.

The most important thing isn't really about the status, the money, or anything like that. I think the most important thing is to be with someone who would accept you the way you are and someone whom you can be yourself when you're around the person. I'm still looking for that person who accepts how annoying I am, my weird fashion sense, my eccentric personality, someone who really understands why I blog, I spend alot of my time online and why I constantly see the need to be different from everyone else. (AND SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T TELL/HINT TO ME THAT I NEED TO SLIM DOWN. GOODNESS!! Like I don't know that already!) I guess time will tell. Good luck looking for that person who accepts you dearies. :)

Again, again. Don't forget to LIKE me on Facebook! :)

Shnit International Shortfilmfestival will be in SINGAPORE too!!

Friday, October 7, 2011 / , , , , , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

FILM LOVERS, LISTEN UP!

This is what happens when we do not have a photographer. Take turns to take photo lor! Brought Farah along for this even because she appreciates short films just like me. I like watching interesting films. (Video production isn't exactly my thing that's why I'm not going into the production line. Eeeks!)

Forget about the world, relax and just indulge yourself by watching a good movie + have a big tub of ice cream alone. Heaven ~~~

Yesterday, I was invited to the Media Preview of Shnit International Shortfilmfestival at Sinema Old School. It was my first time heading to the Old School actually so I was really excited. Before that I went to another awesome event, which I will share with you soon. :)

Next week, the festival will be happening from the 7 to 9 October 2011 at
 Cathay Cineleisure  Orchard.

It's the first time it's happening in Asia and HELLO IT'S IN SINGAPORE!!!
The festival is curated by academic staff & students (Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management), School of Architecture & the Built Environment, Singapore Polytechnic. The festival will be showcasing short films from all over the world. So why travel when you can have it all here at the shnit International Shortfilmfestival? ;)

But if you're more interested in local films, check out their exclusive LOCAL showcase called the Sinema Showoff! ROJAK  (I definitely recommend!!) which will be next Friday on the 7th October 2011 at the Cathay Cineleisure Orchard at 7.15pm.
Tickets will cost only $10!

All directors (except Uta Arning who's now living back in Germany) will be present during the showcase and there'll be a Q&A session moderated by Ms Rajesree, Guest Curator - Sinema Showoff! Series.

People who say that Singapore has "no talent", should really go for this showcase because I myself was really impressed by the quality of films yesterday! However, one of the films The Father, Australia gave me a big headache because the some parts of the film was really shaky.

My favourite films yesterday was definitely....

Daughters of God.

If you're a supporter of the freedom to love, Pinkdot and the LGBT community, you'll definitely support this documentary.

You know how in Singapore you're only exposed to certain issues, this film will then expose you to the lives of the Thirunangais (otherwise known as the Indian transsexuals).

In this documentary, some of these transsexuals shared their feelings about undergoing sex change and about them turning to prostitution. It was really sad and I really felt like crying while watching this yesterday.

Another film I enjoyed was Love in any Genre.

If you follow my blog very closely, I've mentioned time and time again how much I love romanctic films/movies. In 16 minutes, Suffian Zain the director presented 4 love stories in the style of Hollywood, Bollywood, Malay and Korean.

It was the last film for the showcase and really, what can I say, I LOVE IT!! I even clapped when the film ended but no one clapped with me. It was really super embarassing! Hahaha

Tickets will be available at the venue and online. Visit the Cathay website to book tickets HERE.

For feedback, bulk & pre-bookings of tickets + queries on obtaining films for screenings please e-mail: Xueni.09@ichat.sp.edu.sg

Qreviews ----> Laddaland

Thursday, June 9, 2011 / , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

One look at the name and I went, what kind of show is this?!

Turns out its a Thai horror movie. I was quite excited because the trailer didn't reveal much about the movie.
I confess. I am a scaredy cat.
But I LOVE HORROR MOVIES!
It gives me the kind of shiok no other genres will be able to give me.
You get my drift, don't you? LOL.

If you're not sure of what movie to watch with your boyfriend or girlfriend this weekend, Laddaland will be a great movie to watch! (Of course! Gfs can hug bfs and you knowwwww..... HAHAHAHA)

This show centers around a haunted village in Chiang Mai. The village was abandoned after a series of unexplained deaths. When I watched the show, I didn't know that the movie was based on a true story.
You know... I was thinking.

"Is this movie shot at a real village? If it is, it would be epic if they were to catch some 'Guests' wandering around in the clips!".

Well back to this Laddaland story.
Apparently, the house owner hired a Myanmar maid to take care of the house and in the end he killed the girl.

It's a MUST WATCH!

Here's the trailer!

Ratings: 3.5/5

Qreviews ----> Hall Pass

Saturday, April 16, 2011 / , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Recently, yours truly went out on a date and watched Hall pass. ;)

I guess the term "Hall pass" isn't something really familiar to us asians
so this movie was really an eye opener to me.

2 couples. 2 marriages. 1 week off from marriage.
They could do anything they want, with whoever they want.

Can we be friends with benefits without falling in love?

Wednesday, February 9, 2011 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Honestly, being a girl, I think its rather hard to not fall for someone whom I've been
physically and sexually intimate with. We could start things off casual,
but sooner or later, being an emotional wreck/
weak hearted girl, I'd definitely find myself falling for that person.

SLOWLY BUT SURELY.

Why? Because I'm a girl. A really emotional girl.
AHEM, AHEM.

Thanks to Omy.sg, yesterday I got tickets to the preview screening of
No Strings Attached!

Well, in this movie the OH-SO-PRETTY Natalie Portman who plays Emma
and sexy Ashton Kutcher, who plays Adam ALMOST ruined their friendship
but having sex one morning.

SO.... TO KEEP THEIR FRIENDSHIP.... they decided to keep their relationship strictly
NO STRINGS ATTACHED. What do you kids call it nowadays? Friends with benefits?
Which means, doing anything (YES ANYTHING), anywhere as long as they don't fall in love.
Which obviously means that they will fall in love, no matter how much they try to deny their own feelings.

Quite predictable, but really who doesn't like happy endings?! :D

The show made me laugh, cry and it definitely made me think about sex, sex and lots of sex.
How can I not? It's in the movie, lots of it that's why it's M18 so you xmm and adik-adik cannot
watch unless you're 18. Hehehehe no worries, your time will come. Just not now! :P

There was this one part which was really funny.
Emma gets into a cab, all drunk and the cabby asked where to take her.

She answered, "Adam's house".
And where's that exactly he asked?
She answered, "WHERE ADAM LIVES".
Hahahahaha that part made me LOL like mad.

It's funny okay, why won't anyone feel the same way?! Hahahaha.

Are you getting physically/sexually involved in someone and you're kinda falling for him/her too?
Ask him/her out during Valentines and watch this movie together!
It's definitely a good idea. :P

No Strings Attached premiers 17 of Feb 2011.

Thanks Omy.sg for the awesome tickets!  ♥ ♥ ♥

'Killers'

Saturday, June 19, 2010 /

MynameisQUE;

That's it. I think Killers is the best movie I've watched, EVER.
(Heh, this post is pretty late!)

I won a pair of tickets for the movie and I brought Farah with me.
First we munched at Burger King and then we bought this
awesome fries that was delicious as hell at Cathay!

I wish we took a photo of the fries cos it was AMAZINGLY GOOD.

I honestly thought the movie wouldn't be THAT interesting,
since the same lead actress from The Ugly Truth would be playing
the lead role again anyway. Not that TUT was good, it was
pretty mediocre for me. The ending was so predictable and
there wasn't an element of surprise at all in that movie.

BUT KILLERS WAS DIFFERENT.

Photobucket

The whole concept of the film was as though it was really thought through properly.
It was a mixture of romance and some action.
How can I not like it?!!

Photobucket

Trust me, I really don't like action movies, but Killers was
so entertaining that for once I was able to watch a so called action packed
movie without feeling bored! I love how the movie was filled
with just the right amount of romance and action.
This also meant that the movie was catered to not on the women,
but also to the men!

Photobucket

And the fact that we were the first few people to watch the movie,
since it was the MOVIE PREMIER,
WOOOOO So cool!

Photobucket

And I just realised that Katerine Heigl is so pretty.
She's curvy at the right places!
*Jealous mode*

Photobucket

Whatcha waiting for, watch it now!

Ju-On: White Ghost and Black Ghost

Saturday, April 17, 2010 / , ,

MynameisQUE;
Photobucket

I don't know what I really like horror movies when I know
I that I get scared very easily.
Maybe the truth is, I really like the thrill of
screaming in the cinema. Hehehe.

I didn't know that the Black Ghost and the White ghost
were 2 different movies,
so paying $6.50 for student price for 2 movies is
absolutely worth it!

However, I don't like the fact that some subtitles
were not really clear when placed in front of a white background.
It gets freaking annoying when the characters are talking
and I don't understand a single thing.
Sheesh.

Both movies used the Flashback sequence technique
making it more dramatic. However,
at the same time, sometimes it gets quite confusing too.
After some time, you'll get used to how the ghost will appear
and it'll all be like a whole same cycle.
Is it just me or the sound of the ghost gets irritating after some time???

Overall, it was an average movie.
:D 3/5
star Pictures, Images and Photosstar Pictures, Images and Photosstar Pictures, Images and Photos

And I'm looking forward to
Nightmare On Elm Street in May!

Photobucket

Agree with me, or I'll have to whip you!

Thursday, February 25, 2010 / , ,

MynameisQUE;

I finally have some time to squeeze for a new blogpost!
Alright!

The other day, I managed to catch 2 awesome movies.

Photobucket

Santau is malay horror movie from Malaysia.
Story line was as typical as ever.
It was so predictable that it just spoilt the whole movie.
As usual, the sound effects has to be good right?
What is a Horror movie without sound effects to scare the movie goers?

Photobucket
I was expecting a lil twist at the end,
especially because its a movie produced by a famous Malaysian
producer name David Teo, but no, it had normal ending.
Nothing significant.

But something from the movie that I would totally remember, would be...
"We humans are always consumed by jealousy and hatred.
When we feel intimidated or jealous,
we will do anything to get things going our way.".

Another movie I managed to catch, is of course,
Valentines Day.
Photobucket

Meanwhile, lets do the pictures do all the talking first!
Photobucket

"Young love. Full of promise, full of hope. Ignorant of reality."
Photobucket

"When you love someone, you have to accept his bad parts too.
Not just the parts that arf easy to like."

Photobucket

"Youre stupid if you turn your back on something as important like love."
Photobucket

Photobucket

Personally, I loveeeee the movie.
Why? Simply because I am bias towards love stories.
I'm a sucker when it comes to love stories.
Whaddya expect, Imma girly girl.
HAHAHAHAHA NOT.

I am a big fan of Taylor Swift but its a pity that she had to act like a total bimbo.
Why the fuck was she give that role?
Come on, she's not thatttt bimbotic. Right? >.<"

"The truth makes everything else seem like a lie."

However, Anne Hathaway's character
as an Adult Phone Entertainer, really suits her.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.

Agree with me, or I'll have to whip you! ;)
