Marilyn Tan Jewellery - Fall Winter 2013 Collection

Monday, April 29, 2013 / , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

The other day, I was privileged to preview of Marilyn Tan Jewellery's Fall Winter 2013 Collection and I must say, I am in love with the everything I saw. All her pieces are uniquely handcrafted, appeals to ladies who are independent and those who wants to make a statement. Her work is inspired by the nature, architecture and environment of her travels to Bhutan, China, Japan, Peru and many more.

The thing about Marilyn is that she uses materials such as leather, silk, acrylic or sude, creating exquisite and distinctive pieces. The bracelet is definitely my favourite from her latest collection. I can already imagine it as a necklace. Ooooh....

Soft, sensuous feather-light silk tassels, adorned with Oriental knots and created in an array of vibrant colours. Featured below, The Tassel Collection.

Another one of my favourites, The Chinese Knot Collection by Marilyn Tan Jewellery. This collection features the "Eternity Knot" crafted in Magnenite - a stone dyed in vibrant colours. I personally love the Bone coloured stone. See below!!

Wrist cuffs from the Summer Light Collection.

First model from the left wearing the Summer Light cuff on her wrist, featured on the TANGS Magazine cover.

Marilyn Tan Jewellery has rapidly attracted attention beyond Singapore. Her collections have been shown in Paris at Tranoi during Fashion Week, one of only six Singapore designers selected. Her collctions are available in Singapore and London.

Catch Cirque du Soleil at Golden Village! ;)

Saturday, January 26, 2013 / , , ,

MynameisQUE;

A few weeks ago, I caught the preview of Cirque Du Soleil, Worlds Away in 3D. Basically, a young couple who was separated had to journey through the wold of Cirque du Soleil to find each other. The amazing circus acts and performances in the movie, especially since it was in 3D made it feel as though I was in the show!! So exciting!

Anyway, should you be interested to catch this show, due to popular demand Golden Village has added a few more session TODAY and TOMORROW! ;)

Halloween Special: Sentosa Spooktacular 2012

Saturday, October 13, 2012 / , , , ,

MynameisQUE;
<Sponsored>

The Halloween season is here again! This year, I was privileged to attend the media preview of Spooktacular organised by Sentosa. This year, there will be 5 new haunted trails, namely the Ouija Board, Camp Berhantu, Deadly Doll Studio, The Land of Lost Souls and The Last Sequel. This year's Spooktacular will be held at Fort Siloso.

Back in the 1980s, when we were part of the British colony, several forts defending our Singapore harbour were built. Of all forts built to defend our country, only Fort Siloso has been preserved which means to say that this year Spooktacular will be held at a place with so much history. This will also be the very first time in history that Fort Siloso is opened after the sun sets. On usual days, it will be closed at 6pm. Sounds exciting already? ;)

Outfit Of The Day
Skater dress from Qiqi Plus, Vampire Cape and Carlo Rino bag from their Classic Catch Collection

Here are some pictures of the friends I made at Spooktacular.

Verdict: I truly enjoyed myself and had a freaking good time! I would strongly recommend this!! I have to say that I am pretty thankful I had a media pass this time, otherwise the wait for the different trails might be pretty long because of the queue. If you don't mind paying a little extra, I suggest you get yourself the Fast Pass which will cost you an additional $25.

What to expect from this year's Spooktacular?

1) Lots of walking
Please make sure that you wear comfy shoes to the event.

2) Keep yourself hydrated
Drink enough water because you will be perspiring a lot. Not too much because it's not very easy to find a toilet too.

3) Bring a mini fan if you can
I was perspiring so much the other night. Trust me, you will thank me after that!

4) Save yourself the hassle of dressing up
Not everyone else will be as gung-ho as you! Dress comfortably. Your job is to enjoy the event!

5) Don't be a spoilsport!
Haha this year, I backed out for one of the trails because I didn't have a good feeling about it. I know I should have just gone for it. Tsk.... Such a spoilsport!!

Anyway, tickets to this year's Spooktacular are selling fast!! If you are thinking of getting your hands on the tickets, you can get them online here.

More details below:

Tickets are also available at these Sentosa Ticketing Counters:
Sentosa Station (VivoCity Lobby L, Level 3)
Beach Station
WaterFront Station

CHOCOLATES GALORE. DO YOU HAVE COCOAPHILIA?

Wednesday, October 5, 2011 / , , , , , , , , , ,

MynameisQUE;

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you're feeling fine. Last week, before going for the media preview of the Shnit International Shortfilmfestival which I blogged about HERE, I was invited to a super CHOCOLATY event by Van Houten!!

DO YOU HAVE COCOAPHILIA?
Cocoaphilia is passion about cocoa and all things chocolate!!

My + 1 and me came early as usual so the venue wasn't opened yet. I don't like being late for blogger events. In fact, I don't really like to be late for anything. Haha just a habit. :P

 The organisers chose a very suitable host for the afternoon, the beautiful Anita Kapoor. Yes, the lady I mentioned in my London Weight Management advertisement blogpost HERE.

How often does anyone get invited to an event with chocolate everywhere?!

 Irresistable. ;)

Want some? Come and get them. Hehehehe

What is your fondest memory of chocolate? ~~

Did your first bf give you a bouquet of chocolates?
Or... Did you save up money just to buy your favourite chocolate when you were a kid? :P

For me, back during secondary school days when I was still taking my O'levels, I heard a rumour about chocolates. Apparently, from what I heard is that chocolate makes you happy and at the same time it makes you forget things easily. Thus those days, my bestfriend and I avoided chocolates AT ALL COST because we studied so hard for our O's, we don't wanna "forget" any of the equations/formulas that we were supposed to memorise.

But even until today, I honestly don't know if it's true. But who cares.... I'm not taking anymore major examinations. I CAN AFFORD TO EAT CHOCOLATES.
Hehehehe.

Chocolates are delicious when eaten with fruits! Who agrees?? Wheeeee!!

Hold a chocolate bar in your hand and try to break it.

Was there a "piak" sound? Like a nice snap?

Well, high quality chocolates have higher levels of cocoa butter which will make a clean crisp snap sound when broken. :)

During the media preview, I also managed to meet the brand manager of Van Houten, Ms Diana Obias I asked her a very stupid question..... Don't laugh please.

"Can I know why you don't have white chocolate?".

Well, according to her Van Houten specialises in cocoa and chocolate. White chocolate isn't exactly CHOCOLATE but it's merely a flavour. Man I feel so cheated after that. All this time I've been paying for a flavour and not REAL CHOCOLATE? Hahahaha. Well, we learn something new everyday, don't we? :)

Are you a fan of dark chocolate, chocolate with hazelnuts or almonds or choc with whole fruit and nuts or are you more into plain milk chocolate? :)

My dad is a huge fan of whole fruit and nuts.

ME? I LIKE MY CHOCOLATE PLAIN.

Van Houten chocolates come in two serving preferences of either a chocolate bar or chocolate covered whole roasted fruit and nuts, in milk chocolate and semi-sweet flavour profiles

Farah was just as excited as me! See, she can't wait to open the bar of chocolate!

We all know about how CHOCOLATE promotes the release of endorphins which makes us all happy! So after eating so much chocolate, if the we didn't feel HAPPY at all, then THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CHOCOLATES RIGHT? Hehehehe.

YES WE ARE HAPPY GIRLS!

But chocolate isn't the only reason why we were so happy......

IT'S ALSO CUS WE GOT TO SHAKE HANDS AND HUG ANITA KAPOOR!!!
OMG SERIOUSLY DAMN HAPPY.

It was nice to meet her in person and personally thank her for writing the blogpost about the London Weight Management ad. It was because of her that people were more aware about the disgusting ad by LWM. If a random stranger were to write a blogpost about the ad, probably people wouldn't even give a damn. But because it came from somebody who has made her mark in the entertainment industry, word spread fast and many people agreed about how distasteful the ad was made.

Here's me in the taxi with a box filled with chocolates which I shared with my family and bf. :)
Happiness must be shared right? Kekeke.

Van Houten Chocolates are available at all leading supermarkets and convenience stores. Come on, I'm sure you've seen them around at 7 Eleven, NTUC, Shop & Save and many more other shops. Time to grab some! :P

PS://Don't forget to LIKE the Cocoaphilia Singapore Facebook page!

Also, I've had comments from some of you about joining for events like this. I'll try to ask the event organisers next time and who knows, if you're lucky I might be able to bring 1/2 readers with me for such events. We can talk and get to know each other better too. We'll see how! For more updates, don't forget to follow me on Twitter!
